CSSPC rises from the ashes! After the COVID-19 cases have subsided, the Cluster IV Secondary Press Conference (CSSPC) comes back once again. Students’ are eager to contend in the said competition with different schools.
This year’s competition is themed “Beyond Infodemic: Recognizing the Paramount Role of Campus Journalism in Rising Above the Global Pandemic.” This will last for two consecutive days, it’s hosted by Malino National High School (MNHS) in Mexico, Pampanga. Cluster IV consists of 17 different schools, and all of them brought their best jourmalists to the competition.
The Campus Jourmalism’s program was opened by Ms. Cesary Y. Sacdalan, then some of the representative from the different schools gave a speech. These are Sir Joey A. Garcia, Ma’am Lydia P. Canlas, Sir Joel P. Cadiang, and lastly Ma’am Edna L. Pineda. The speeches contain some guidelines with the competition, motivational words, and other details.
“Campus Journalism Act of 1991” was passed into law, this will promote the growth of campus journalism and uphold and safeguard press freedom even at the campus level as a way to strengthen moral principles, foster critical and creative thinking, and help young Filipinos develop their moral character and personal discipline.. With that, this could help them if they would pursue in a Journalism related career.
To ensure the continuation of Journalism, Teachers’ of today are recruiting students’ to contest, this will keep the ardent to writing alive. The Act of 1991 is enhancing the journalistic abilities of the concerned students and encouraging responsible journalism.
