Aaron Redd Cortez, a 18 year old chess player playing white emerged supreme against a 13 year old Airah Calma by outwitting her in the Chess Exhibition Game today, April 27, occurred at San Jose Malino High School, Mexico.
In able to dominate Airah, Aaron enhanced his placings by reading every movement of his opponent. By obeserving the whole sequence of the game, he found a way to conquer Airah that led him to win today’s Chess Exhibition Game.
The first 20 minutes of the nerve frazzling game seems to be tough for Aaron, as he was losing a lot of pieces by placing them in the wrong sqaure. As for Airah, she took the opportunity to display her strategies that made Aaron realized how to attack his opponent wisely. Both parties seems to be under pressure as it was a seesaw affair for them.
In the middle of the game, Aaron found a way to counter check Airah. He revealed his own strategies after observing Airah’s movement and by analyzing the pieces on the chessboard adequately. His tricky placings made it hard for Airah to defeat him. After consecutively losing various pieces, Airah then lent her hand out and said, “Oh, resign na ako,” but eventually took it back.
As they proceed on exchanging moves, Aaron found a way to promote his pawn to a rook that gave him an advantage to counter attack Airah. Placing his pieces on a right sqaure decisively, helped him enhanced his strategy to accumulate Airah’s pieces that leaves Aira with only the King piece. Airah’s moves became impulsive, that gave Aaron an oppurtunity to checkmate her King piece.
Aaron unveiled his plan of action that led him to victory, “hindi ako nag-exact move, gumagawa ako ng strategy. Kung makakain niya ang isa piyesa, dapat ide-depensa mo,” he said. The reason on why he moves his pieces in the wrong sqaure was part of his strategy, “Ang exact move ko sa una kong game ay pini-pin ko ang isang King para maka-gawa ng opening.” he stated.
